Buying and Selling
The age requirement for purchasing and possessing marijuana in the state of Colorado is 21 years old.
It’s a felony for anyone to give or sell to, or share marijuana with, anyone under the legal age of 21.
You must present a valid ID in order to gain entry to any dispensary or marijuana based business.
Limits to buying
Buy retail marijuana only from licensed retail stores.
Adults over the age of 21 can buy and possess up to one ounce of marijuana at a time.
Limits to selling
Only licensed retailers can sell marijuana products
Adults over 21 can give up to 1 ounce of marijuana to another adult 21 or older, but can’t sell marijuana. This includes homegrown product.
Due to amendment 64 being entered into Colorado legislation in 2014, it opened the flood gates to the med/rec section of marijuana state-wide. Although there are still some cities that do not allow the sale and taxation of the product – it has nonetheless taken over many areas as the dominant taxation contributor.
